False Alert

Would you believe it - new e-mail from AuroraWatch says the alert was falsely triggered by man made disturbance at the Lancaster site - no aurora today then :(

Still more activity on my detector than normal though.

  2. Oh sorry John!!! I've never seen an Aurora before. I've taken the time to catch up on your blog. I'm so happy that you got some shots of the Heron and a wee movie. I know it's something you've been trying to capture. Nicely done my friend. I hope all is well your neck of the woods.

  3. It could be a coincidence but we saw a report (with a picture) in the Telegraph today of the Northern Lights taken over Norway

  4. Hi Silverpebble. So was I. It is rare to see an aurora this far South but by the initial report it would have been a possibility. Very annoying really.

  5. Hi Crista. Neither have I. When I was active as a radio amateur I have bounced radio signals off them. It has really peculiar effects of the sounds of peoples voices on the reflected signals.

I was really pleased to get some clear photos of the Heron. Now I am hoping for some cleared video in the future.

  6. Hi Twosie. My monitor was showing more activity than usual so there could well have been an aurora visible that far North - just not the spectacular that was falsely predicted, unfortunately.
