Friday at the Flicks ( Pheasant, Rook, Dunnock)

It was quite a surprise to see the Pheasant helping itself to the fat ball I had placed in the ground dish for the Blackbirds. Two different views from different cameras.

This Rook had spotted me watching and spent a while in a tree waiting to see if I would go away before deciding to try elsewhere.

This clip of a Dunnock was taken a while ago and then forgotten about until I found it again a couple of days ago.

Have a great weekend observing the wildlife around you.

  1. John, as entertaining as ever, like the new titles. Is that you playing the harpsichord or is it a clavical?

  2. Thank you Adrian. I got bored so I experimented with the title animation facilities in VideoStudio 11+. The sound track is another old FastTracker MOD file converted to MP3. Not sure about the instrument as it will be a built in sample in the .MOD file but it definitely not me playing ;)

  3. I enjoyed all the videos John, particularly the Pheasant, my goodness it was enjoying that fatball! Did the Blackbirds get a look in?

    Enjoy your weekend :)

  4. Hello,
Love the photos and videos - we enjoy photographing and filming birds too even though they can be a bit elusive at times. You birdwatch was far more successful than ours!

Some of our stuff is on YouTube but we also have a section on our website here

  5. Hello Jan. The Blackbirds usually go for the fat ball once all the seeds have gone. There was some left for them after the Pheasant flew off.

  6. Hi John ~ I've enjoyed your recent posts but haven't had a chance to comment until now ~ I'm delighted to see that the Birdy Bistro has a new patron ~ Philbert the Pheasant. I googled to find out the gender, just to make sure it wasn't Philamena ;) I'm trying to remember the name of the music in your last video ~ it's familiar! Nice to see all is well!

  8. Hello to Green Lane Allotments. Thank you for visiting and your kind comments. I was lucky that so many birds came during the count, far more than previous counts.

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed looking through your great photos and video clips.

  9. Hello Glo. I think you have reached that point in retirement when you wonder how you ever found the time to go to work ;)

Philbert it shall be. He makes fleeting visits but I often hear his raucous call not very far away.

The music is Chopin, Prelude No. 15 in D-flat major (Raindrop).

  10. Thank you Keith. I never dreamed the Pheasant would like a fat ball. I expected him to stay with the corn I scattered but I guess the Wood Pigeons got to that first.
