Friday at the Flicks - Woodpecker - Thrush - Young Great Tit

It has been a better week for taking some new video clips. First is the unexpected visit from a Great Spotted Woodpecker helping itself to the peanuts.

On the same morning there was a rare visit to the back garden from a Song Thrush hunting for and finding a snail. Behind the wood is gravel which the thrush is using as its anvil to crack open the snail's shell.

Finally from earlier in the week a young Great Tit on a peanut feeder.

Have a great weekend observing the wildlife around you.

  1. Great trio of clips John.
I loved the Song Thrush; he was really bashing that snail shell to get to it. It looked disgusting once he got it out, but I'm sure he enjoyed it lol

    1. Thank you Keih. I can see why I have never fancied cockles and mussels.

  2. Most enjoyable flicks today John. So pleased you managed footage of the GSW, I do hope she returns. Lovely to see the Song Thrush too. With all the rain there must be lots of snails around for them this year. It looked like yours might have young ones to feed nearby.

    1. It was nice the GSW stayed long enough for some video. I though the ST may have been taking some back to a nest. Maybe she will bring some young ones one day. Definitely no shortage of food for them here!
