A Dragon at Last

Recently there have been a few dragonflies visiting the garden. A male Common Darter and a Male Southern Hawker made a couple of visits but wouldn't stay in one place long enough to focus on them. Yesterday a female Common Darter did decide to take a rest several times in the same place giving me a photo opportunity at last.

It would be lovely if they would pair up and use the garden pond.

    Wonderful.....I keep seeing them but not in any numbers. Lets hope the sunny weather does it's job and they do.

    Well done John, at last you are getting some dragons! Like the second shot, the veins in the wings are really clear!

    Love the second one too.

    I've seen quite a few of these recently; even managed one on my hand.

      I was pleased with that one Keith. I tried several shots at slightly different angles to get some Sun sparkle on the wings. A bit more depth of view would have been even better.
      I saw a photo on another blog recently which had an Emperor (I think) dragonfly on a person's hand.
