You are welcome to come and collect as much moss from my lawn as you would like for your experiments! :-DShySongbirdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08148381873578585910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-71887261593687179712009-05-03T23:12:00.000+01:002009-05-03T23:12:00.000+01:00Another interesting post, MJ. Not that I'm a golfer but your pic of capsules together reminds me of a set of clubs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-59935873125188660082009-05-03T21:49:00.000+01:002009-05-03T21:49:00.000+01:00I still miss the simplicity of use with the Atari ...I still miss the simplicity of use with the Atari ST, Mick. I had 4Mb of memory and two 48Mb hard drives. Mind you, not so long ago I found the receipt for the first hard drive. Somewhere over 500 pounds for 48Mb. I used to produce the parish and village magazines on that setup.Midmarsh Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10980417659811194899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-78362476491712057632009-05-03T21:40:00.000+01:002009-05-03T21:40:00.000+01:00Sometimes it produces reasonable pictures Keith, o...Sometimes it produces reasonable pictures Keith, other times they are awful though that could be down to operator error!Midmarsh Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10980417659811194899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-41687447966989463662009-05-03T21:34:00.000+01:002009-05-03T21:34:00.000+01:00Thanks Greenfingers. My chief complaint was the number of times I got so involved with recording or scoring music that I forgot to save and then "something" happened and I lost hours of work! <br />The moss photos are fascinating.mickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08230845410313320080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-37702296972215204092009-05-03T18:57:00.000+01:002009-05-03T18:57:00.000+01:00Good results for a 'toy' John.

I think the moss might be Funaria hygrometrica a.k.a. common cord moss, which often grows on the sites of old bonfires and on the surface of heat-sterilised potting compost. When the capsules are ripe they go orangy-brown and the capsule stalk curls over. The British Bryological Society has an excellent web site at http://www.britishbryologicalsociety.org.uk/ with a free downloadable identification guide to mosses and liverworts of towns and gardens, under the 'Learning More' tab.Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15609107148344256875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626959970978663576.post-78452515694704582122009-05-03T17:19:00.000+01:002009-05-03T17:19:00.000+01:00Have too much of this stuff on my lawn but still e...Have too much of this stuff on my lawn but still enjoyed looking at it on your post! excellent images.Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09727246824452355673noreply@blogger.com
