Just getting ready for our afternoon walkies yesterday when this landed in the back garden:
Looking a bit battered:
Peacock Butterfly |
Then as we walked down the lane I spotted a couple of:
Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly |
They took me by surprise as at 12.5C with a cold breeze it wasn't the warmest of recent days.
Good to see them. I guess I'll have to wait a month.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: I think you will need a few dry, sunny days.
DeleteThey aren't settling near me at all. I've only seen small torts so far. ooh, and a single comma in Stapleford Wood
ReplyDeleteSimon: That's usually the problem I have. These were fortunately hungry for nectar.
DeleteYou should be so lucky - temperature 5 degrees here this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWeaver: We have done well for decent afternoon temperatures, when the cold wind abates.
