Common Darter Dragonfly

Here is another dragonfly which seemed as though it liked to have its photo taken as it kept returning to the same planter even when I was very close:

  1. Wondering if that is a ruddy darter, body looks a very deep red for a common

    1. Simon: It is probably the photo which is somewhat redder than real life.

  2. Very nice visitor to have John, I get a few visit here sometimes.

Definitely a Common Darter. They have dark legs with a yellow stripe along the legs; the Ruddy Darters legs are black.

    1. Keith: Thanks for that. I didn't realise about the stripe. I just went on the general size and the large head.

  3. John your photography gets better and better. I never see a dragonfly here in N Yorkshire.

    1. Weaver: Thanks. Slowly getting better but still not detailed enough to satisfy me yet.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
