Simon: It is probably the photo which is somewhat redder than real life.
Very nice visitor to have John, I get a few visit here sometimes.Definitely a Common Darter. They have dark legs with a yellow stripe along the legs; the Ruddy Darters legs are black.
Keith: Thanks for that. I didn't realise about the stripe. I just went on the general size and the large head.
John your photography gets better and better. I never see a dragonfly here in N Yorkshire.
