I saw what looks to be a brilliant idea on Glo's new blog: Glo-photo-bug
Mount a fat block horizontally instead of vertically.
Only take the cover sheet off the top of the block and leave the rest of the plastic container on.
Put it in the holder and hang up, open side down.
I had to trim off the edges of the plastic container to get it to fit
Wait for birds which are happy hanging upside-down when feeding.
Hope that fools the Starlings and they don't / can't peck through the plastic covering!
I'll give it a day,
ReplyDeleteAdrian: Ever the eternal optimist ;)
DeleteLooks promising.
ReplyDeleteWilma: Patiently waiting for any takers now.
DeleteHaha... I got a kick out of Adrian's comment ;) Thanks for the mention and link, and I look forward to your 'results'. Still working well here.
ReplyDeleteGlo: No takers yet.
DeleteMy problem is with squirrels, not starlings. They seem to be able to thwart anything designed to keep them out. I think they are second only to Einstein in intelligence! What I really need is for a good Red-tailed Hawk to take up residence; then we could have a daily requiem!
ReplyDeleteDavid: I have problems with Grey Squirrels in the Summer. They are a real pain at the bird feeders.
