Locally there are several gardens with Snowberry plants. On one hedge the branches were hanging right over the footpath so I brought a bit home to photograph with the iPhone 6s:
Symphoricarpos albus - Common Snowberry |
Though various mammals and birds eat the berries they can be poisonous to humans.
I love them. As children we used to pick them, put them on the footpath and pop them by lightly tapping them with our feet. They make a lovely popping sound. Haven't seen any for years.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you were okay and here you are or at least some berries.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: Yes. OK. Just that little has caught my attention this week as far as photography goes.
DeleteLooks very jolly!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo. We have some of the berries in the garden - interestingly here birds never seem to eat them. Red berries seem to be the favourite. Although I have bought a callicarpa with its lovely purple berries as I understand over wintering Blackcaps are partial to them :)
