Will I Sneeze?

A panoramic view (four image composite picture) of the field of oilseed rape next to one of the lanes we walk from time to time. This is the field where the farmer was using kite bird scarers some weeks ago.

Panorama2

When I get too close to this lovely yellow display each year I usually end up with a day or two sneezing.

Alongside some nice sunny mornings we have also had our share of heavy rain showers and electrical storms throughout the week.

Scary

Re-visited the field with the bird scarer. Changed quite a bit since the last visit. There are now several of these:

Balls which rotate in the wind. Partly shiny and partly scary face.

Over the far side of the field is what looks like a Hawk Kite:

On my side of the field another kite style scarer though it appeared to be a different version to the one I showed in a previous post:

Once again they were doing a great job as I didn't see a single bird on the ground, or even flying anywhere near the field.

Harrowing

On reaching the end of our lane I could see that the next stage in preparing the land for its next crop was well under way. This time with a harrow to break up the large clods of earth left after ploughing.

Ploughing

It didn't take me long to make my mind up - for a change.
My new pocket / compact camera is the Canon G5 X MkII.
After patiently waiting for the battery to charge I took it with us on our after tea walk down the lane. Took quite a few test shots and a couple of pieces of video.

This was taken at 1080p FHD 25 fps., hand held. The camera can take 4K resolution but that will have to wait for another day.  The strip of b/w down the right on the thumbnail appears to be a YouTube artefact as it doesn't exist on the actual video.  Hopefully some still photos tomorrow once I have processed them as they were all taken in RAW.

Harvest Time

Well, for Oilseed Rape anyway.
In spite of some recent high winds and occasional heavy showers it was still standing.

DSCN8714

One of the fields at the end of our lane was harvested a few days ago.
Today when we went walkabout mid afternoon I could hear the combine was working very close by.
It was working on the field right next to the lane end:

This is the first time I have used the Nikon at full 1080p resolution.
Hand held as I do most times. A bit of stabilization done in iMovie.
As usual you may have to force YouTube to show it in HD.

As it was blustery and the video ended up with loud wind noise I replaced the soundtrack.
Music - God's Reminding.
