At last I managed to snatch some pieces of video when the Magpie visited the Bird Table.
Once again the lighting is a mix of dull daylight and Infra Red:
Visit Shirls's Gardenwatch site for a beautiful close video of a tiny Wren foraging.

It's Becoming a Habit
The grey squirrel is now making regular visits to the bird table.
Think I'll have to start putting some peanuts on there.
As it was an early dull morning there is a mixture of infra red and daylight which gives varying colours and makes the eyes look misty.

Tuesday Twister - Guess What

Congratulations and virtual gold stars go to TexWisGirl, Adrian, Wilma, Bonnie and Ragged Robin who all worked out last week's twisted photo of a sheep:

I wonder how you will get on working out the activity going on in this twisted photo
Guess What:

Please leave any guesses in the comments.
They will be revealed next Tuesday along with the answer.
No prizes, just for fun and maybe a virtual silver or gold star.

Friday at the Flicks - On the Bird Table

Tuesday morning saw a visit by the local grey squirrel. It was trying all the feeders to find some food. In the end it disappeared from my sight in the direction of the bird tale. I switched on the camera and lo, there it was helping itself to sunflower seed hearts:
A little later a couple of collared doves also made it their breakfast table:
Later still one of the Magpies also helped itself to the seeds but I didn't manage to capture any video that time.
Mustn't forget the occasional night time visitor:
Have a great weekend observing the wildlife around you.

Tuesday Twister - Guess What

It seems that last week's twisted photo flummoxed most people but TexWisGirl hit the nail on the head with the word whirligig which is a perfect description of it. Congratulations and the lone virtual gold star goes to the lady from the Lone Star State.

I don't think this week's twisted photo will cause as many problems.
Guess What:

Please leave any guesses in the comments.
They will be revealed, along with the answer, next Tuesday.
No prizes, just for fun and maybe a virtual Midmarsh silver or gold star.

Howeara 'Lava Burst'
Back in May I set up a terrarium for miniature orchids:
Those which were flowering at that time have finished but I am really pleased that one of the younger plants I purchased has started to bloom.
Howeara 'Lava Burst'
One or two have failed miserably as the conditions in the terrarium probably didn't suit them. That is part of the learning curve, working out which orchids will thrive in there. One of the originals is producing a new flower spike so I look forward to others flowering over the next year or two. It will take a while as I bought young plants to help keep the cost down.

Friday at The Flicks - To The Vets
When we went to the vets last Tuesday I took a video of the journey which I saved at normal speed. The video is about 20 minutes long and a bit over exposed in some places with the strong low Sunlight. All the journey is along back roads as that is the most direct route in spite of the number of sharp bends along the way. In fact it is part of the journey I made daily, Sun or snow, when I was working.:
At 632MB, it took about 4 hours to upload that one.
Soundtrack is DJ Quicksilver CD playing in the car.
Much shorter is this bit of cloud time lapse. I tried an experiment of using an iPhone / iPod holder designed for car windscreens and sticking it on the kitchen window. There is one glitch when the camera suddenly changes focus:
The clock is a video grab from my desktop background and the titling is the Alpha Clouds font which can be found on the excellent fontspace web site which is full of free fonts suitable for Windows and Macs.
