There are usually a couple of Goldfinches which insist in eating upside-down. I think they found that they don't get involved in squabbles quite so often when they avoid the perches.
I had temporarily taken down one of the feeders while I was cutting down the Sunflower. By the lunch time rush I had forgotten to put it back up so there were six perches less than normal and a sudden influx of House Sparrows.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Couple of great videos John.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a flock of birds in the second one.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks yet again, I dread to think what your food bill is.
ReplyDeleteSo much activity at your feeders, John. My neighbor is out trimming his lilacs with an electric trimmer, so there are no birds to be seen at my feeders just now. Glad I got to see yours. :-)
ReplyDeletecheers,
Wilma
Wow John your feeders are as busy as mine are. But I must say your feeding area is Wicked so many feeders. I have one feeder and a Thistle bag for my finches. But I have Suet logs and feeders for my other birds and Woodpeckers. Have a lovely weekend John.
ReplyDeleteMidmarsh mayhem!! It does get a bit like that here although not so much with Sparrows I still don't get so many of those any more. Great videos John.
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith. I sometimes wonder if there any left in other gardens ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Adrian. Ah well, as they say, you can't take it with you.
ReplyDeleteHi Wilma. It is usually like that at breakfast time but does calm down for the rest of the day. There ere time with no birds at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Crista. Maybe I shouldn't have so many though I know the birds will probably need them once the Winter arrives.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan. Sparrows have always bred well here. Plenty of hedges, easy roof space to nest in and of course my drive for dust baths. ;)
