Friday at the Flicks - Visitors in the Snow

All the feeders have been very busy these past few days as the garden birds found it more difficult to find natural food and fresh water.

Male Blackbird
Wood Pigeon
Male Chaffinch
Starling
Female Chaffinch and Starling
Greenfinches
House Sparrows

Occasionally a few of the larger birds would visit the fat ball container though not as many as I expected. Here a Jackdaw is feeding itself as well as showering pieces for the ground feeding birds to enjoy.

Quite a bit of the snow in my garden has disappeared though the packed snow down the lane will take a lot longer to go as the temperature is only just above freezing.

  1. Hope you and Bobby are having a great Christmas John.
Good to see the birds tucking in when they need it the most.

  2. Wow! that looks cold indeed! When it's that cold it makes a lot of sense that birds need some help with food. The videos give a good idea of what that kind of weather is really like. Hard to picture it out here in the sub-tropics!

  3. Thank you Keith. A very quiet couple of days.
The birds were very busy at the feeders all day but now the temperature is rising they have slowed down.

  4. Hello Mick. Cold enough - though other parts of the country have had much lower temperatures. Even the Starlings hung around all day where they normally visit three times and fly off elsewhere in between visits.

I find it hard to visualise a Christmas BBQ ;)
