Not a lot different going on at the moment. Both these videos were made to try out various things. The first is a short clip of both Great Tits making a recent visit to the Nest Box. The video was put together using VideoPad.
This longer video was shot using a different camcorder. A s/h Canon XL2 which can take interchangeable lenses. Some was shot using the 20x optical zoom which comes with the camera and some with the Canon 70-200 EF IS L lens. Alternative lenses have to be focussed manually. It was unfortunate that yesterday morning gave dull rainy conditions. The XL2 records in wide screen HD.
There are so many buttons, dials and facilities on the XL2 it is going to take quite a while to learn to drive it and I'm looking forward to some good results once the Sun makes an appearance.
Have a great weekend observing the wildlife around you.
Considering the light levels the second video is very good.......Nothing like a new toy to get the grey cells in overdrive.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that they fetch in and out of the nest box? Looks like bits of leaf.
Hello Adrian. The XL2 has what I've always wanted - three CCD cells, one for each primary colour which helps a lot.
ReplyDeleteAs for what the birds are removing - guano to put it delicately! She keeps her future nesting area as clean as possible.
Can see us being treated to red birds one minute followed by green and blue. I see it can also handle four audio channels.......a superb bit of kit.
ReplyDeleteLove that second video of your garden visitors John.
ReplyDeleteNice flicks John. I can see the Great Tit is going to be a very diligent housekeeper which should bode well for nesting time.
ReplyDeleteHave fun learning to 'drive' ;)
Of course Adrian. A few bright blue sparrows would brighten up things no end. lol
ReplyDeletePleased you liked it Keith. Pity the morning was so dismal.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan. I've even had to look at the handbook for the camera.
ReplyDeleteShe, I assume it is a she, seems to be very house proud. He just pops in occasionally to supervise ;)
It will be quite something when the nest building starts. I wonder when that will happen?
ReplyDeleteThe Birdy Bistro seems to be as busy as ever ~ and the birds as hungry as ever! ... and big birds, too, not like the mostly little ones at my feeders.
I should think it will be another month before nesting becomes obvious Glo.
ReplyDeleteIt is very variable at the Birdy Bistro Glo. Some days the feeders are emptied and on others they are hardly touched. That partly depends on the weather.
