An LTT in the Garden - at last

It was starting to rain, nothing new there then, and the feeders needed topping up. Once that task was completed various finches and other birds started to arrive. The first visitor to the fat ball feeder was a lone Long Tailed Tit. It must be about two years since the last time I saw any at the Birdy Bistro. Stood well back in the kitchen and managed a few hurried shots before it left.

All these are taken with the 50D at 400mm zoom, cropped and then tweaked in Photoshop Elements 10 using the Guide, Saturated Slide Film Effect.

Great Tit Nest:
Mrs GT continues to incubate her seven eggs with occasional excursions out of the nest box and Mr GT makes occasional visits with food for her.

  1. Always a welcome visitor John.
Unusual to just have the one though.

  2. Well captured John. A lovely garden visitor. I thought I had a nice photo of one in mine the other day but unfortunately it's face was hidden. Mrs GT is in the best place in this hideous weather!

    1. Thank you Jan. I had the camera on burst shot as it kept disappearing behind the feeder.

  3. That's quite different John, but very a very nice finished product.

    1. The originals were quite dull Roy, along with the weather. That filter seems to have brought up the colours pretty accurately as the suet balls are a sandy colour.

  4. Catching up time ~ Seven eggs! How amazing ~ here's hoping everything goes well for the whole family. I got a kick out of your levitating bird and caption ;) It's quite obvious how the LTT acquired its name. How nice that it has reappeared, and your filter worked well. The weather here has been dismal as well and it certainly doesn't improve one's sense of well being, does it? On the occasional blue sky day, it's amazing how the world seems so much happier and brighter! Even puts a spring in my step! Perhaps in May...

    1. Dull days can get really depressing. Vitamin D levels need boosting.
I wonder how many of the eggs will hatch this year as she leaves them more often than last year's female.
Our lower than average temperatures forecast for May is not a good one. Just hope that may mean a clearer sky and more Sunshine. There is plenty of warmth from it when it does show.
