Wings for Wednesday

It was a pleasure to see an adult Greenfinch at the seed feeder:

Not only that but here are two of the four juveniles which had tagged along:

Juvenile Greenfinches

I do tend to get a bit apprehensive when Greenfinches visit these days as the past three Summers they have brought finch disease to my garden. Let's hope we stay clear this year.

Another juvenile was spotted this week and I hope that this time it really was a juvenile Robin:

Finally - a bit blurry - a return visit by the Great Spotted Woodpecker:

  1. A good haul this week. I would say that is a Robin.

    1. Funny how some days have lots of different birds and others hardly any.

  2. I hope the Greenfinches manage to keep clear of that terrible disease John.
I love seeing them visit my garden. Sadly, not that often though.
    Definitely a young Robin.

  3. Yes, definitely a young and exceedingly pretty Robin! Good to see the Greenfinches, they visit me regularly but I too worry about that horrible disease :-( Very good news that the GSW has visited again!!

Regarding your mention, on yesterday's post, of your strawberry crop failure, for the first time I can ever remember we don't have even one apple on our tree! What a very odd year.

    1. Raspberries and Blackcurrants have done well but pear and plum were also failures though those are still young plants.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
