Adrian: I know Penny would love to have a go at it. She has been paying more attention to that area of the garden for a couple of days. I watched the route it took and it now has its own little stash of food in a secure container out of dog reach.
John, we have a permanent cage trap under the hen hut and a permanent trap in a rat run through the garden. (protected with chicken wire to keep the cats well away). The farmer catches one or two each week as they come in for the winter.
Weaver: I normally see them every couple of years or so. I guess they had a good breeding season. I've toyed with the idea of buying a box which zaps them with a high voltage but will see how the bait box goes first. Calling in a rat catcher is expensive these days now the local authority no longer does that sort of work.
Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
We have had to have a serious ratting session here. The dogs think it's excellent sport.
