Friday at the Flicks - A Seed Dish of Starlings
Winter has arrived at last. By teatime yesterday it started to snow, wet stuff at first which melted as it landed but eventually we ended up with a thin covering and by this morning the pools of water in the lane were frozen over:
When we got back from our early morning jaunt I topped up the seed feeders.
I wasn't a bit surprised when the brat pack invaded the seed dish on the bird table:
At last I have managed to be able to record live sound along with the video.
The harsh cackle at the end of the first clip is the sound of a Magpie.

Not bad sound at all. An expensive job feeding starlings sunflower seeds.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: It's the sort of wireless microphone system broadcasters use. There is some noise which I am trying to cure.
ReplyDeleteJohn if you take a five second sample and highlight it in Audacity it will get rid of it for you.
DeleteAdrian: I must find out how to do that. To me most of the 'noise' sounds like a dry or bad joint somewhere.
DeleteManners! Starlings do have a social hierarchy though, wonder how it applies here.
ReplyDeleteSimon: About 10 minutes before I started recording there was one which was driving all the others away. I guess the group I filmed were the at the bottom of the pecking order.
DeleteWe had frost but no snow John.
ReplyDeleteThe starlings must have thought it was their birthdays.
