We went on a different route yesterday so today it came as a surprise to see how much more scaffolding was being added to the village church:
No wonder it costs so much to have repairs made.
My initial thought is that they may be adding a temporary weather proof covering while work is done on the roof.
A photo I took years ago when I had the chance to go about 60 ft up in a cherry picker:
Yes it looks as if they are tenting the job. The Church has plenty of money so don't worry that they are spending a bit of it.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: Lots of cash from the likes of Heritage Lottery Fund. Total cost is around £250,000.
DeleteI don't mean to be churlish but the lottery is a tax on the poor and the church has plenty of money. The lottery ought to be banned. I have yet to see a customer ask for the Financial Times and two scratch cards.
DeleteThe price of scrap metal had fallen, so that may keep the thieves off next time. Don't see many scrappies in their badly driven deathtrap lorries any more.
ReplyDeleteSimon: That rings true. Used have weekly visits in the village from loud hailing scrap beggars but not heard for a few months now. ELDC has really clamped down on them.
DeleteSome scaffolding I must say John - I expect something to do with Health and Safety - most things are these days.
ReplyDeleteWeaver: Yes indeed. Gone are the days when they used a bouncy wooden ladder tied in place with a bit of old rope.
