Very interesting. I am always amazed at the kind and variety of stone carved faces on those old churches. Thanks for your comment on my blog post and I hope that you will show photos and give a description of the workmen removing that large tree in your yard.
Adrian: They do recommend sunny weather for the full spectrum. I think the colour cast was the result of an overcast day though I did remove some of it. Also I did remember to reset the white balance as recommended by taking a photo of a green subject and using the built in manual setting.
