No, not a wind blown sun umbrella but these little beauties spotted in the part of the garden which was cleared of overgrown bushes late last year:
Having spent a while researching they look to me to be Shaggy Parasol mushrooms.
Chlorophyllum rhacodes See a description HERE.
Another which had fallen over:

Another view of the trio:
They are John and excellent eating. Brush the sand off as best you can cut into thick slices and fry in garlic butter. Don't chop finely or they fall to bits.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: Thanks for the ID confirmation. I might pluck up courage and try cooking a piece.
DeleteI'm very weary of eating wild mushrooms and will stick to shop bought ones. I realise that I may be missing out on some wonderful flavours but wild mushrooms are something I know nothing about.
ReplyDeleteDave: Similar feelings here.
DeleteI must say they look delicious. If Adrian is correct then I hope you enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteWeaver. They must be the largest wild mushrooms I have seen, I might have a little taste to see what they are like.
DeleteJohn check here:

If it ticks all the boxes it is one of them.
