Ragged Robin suggested it was an insectivorous plant of some sort.
Adrian suggested it was a Venus Fly Trap but it was a top view of
my pitcher plant.

Oh yes, I can see it now. Should have got that as I bought my husband a pitcher plant although sadly it died after about 6 months :( This week's is hard but my guess is the top of a bird feeder???
