Until almost the last minute I though I was going to win this one.
Well done to Ragged Robin who was correct in identifying

spores on moss stalks. (spore capsules)
It is Swan-neck thyme moss, one of the most common - in my garden anyway.
You can read about how moss reproduces HERE.
Maybe this week's mystery close up

will be easier to identify.
If you would like to have a go please leave your guess in the comments.
They will be revealed, along with the answer, next Monday.
That was a great mystery photo, it had me baffled, like many others , well done.
ReplyDeleteOrnamental wrought ironwork either on a gate or fence.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bracket for one of two things. I'll plump for hanging baskets.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can see why I couldn't guess last week. Even with you giving me the solution - I have never seen that before! For this week, I am going to guess a garden fence. Have a good week, John!
ReplyDeleteNo idea John. Is your Monday quiz getting harder or is my brain pickling under lockdown.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I got it right :) Am always trying to get photos of moss spore capsules which helped me id :) Love the pitcher plant in your last post. Sadly, we lost ours although Venus Fly Trap is still doing well.
ReplyDeleteThis week's guess. I think it may be the top of one of those metal bird feeding stations which has various metal brackets etc to hang feeders?????
