Unwelcome Visitor

Just happened to spot this furry visitor to the bird feeders:

Time to put out some 'special' food in a safe place!

  1. What is that, John? Is that a rat? Looks big!

    1. Ellen: Yes. A brown rat. Not quite fully grow yet by the look of it. They tend to come off the nearby farm land looking for food. I have put a couple of packets of Rodex baited grain under the shed. It should be a stiff rat.

  2. Groan - we' ve had problems in the past although they can't reach the feeders as if we have a rimless washing up bowl on the feeding station pole which prevents access. They used to move in under next door's decking - thankfully that decking has now gone! Only good thing to come of their massive rebuilding plans!

  3. I had one going in the garage for the apples the other week so I moved them out and also put one of those ultrasonic gadgets in there. I've not seen it since so removing the food bank probably did the trick.
