Of Tadpoles and Tad Polls

Just a couple of tadpole photos today. They are doing a great job of scraping the algae from the sides of the nursery pond.

Tadpole

What took me by surprise was the almost see through nature of much of the tail when seen side on.

 Tadpoles

Just recently I have discovered The Garden Pond Blog and found the only bit of light relief I have seen during this prolonged and dreary election of ours. It would appear that it is not only the national newspapers which have opinion polls. For something completely different have a look at The Tad Poll.

  2. Hello Adrian. I must admit I took those photos as an excuse to bring attention to the Tad Poll. I really needed a bit of light relief on the subject.

  3. Your photos remind me of how as a child I used to sink a large washing up bowl into the garden and transfer some frog spawn from a local stream, it was so fascinating watching them grow into frogs...I had some very simple childhood pleasures :)

I also enjoyed your previous post and have seen some very impressive rookeries myself this year, such interesting birds!

I plan to check your link out eventually but as I think you may have guessed I am struggling to catch up with blogging at the moment.

  4. Hello Jan. Happy carefree days with a net and a jam jar with a string handle. I think we all had simple childhood pleasures but at least we learned something about the world around us.
