Just a quick snapshot of the nest. The chicks now have their eyes open and are getting quite plump.
They flex their wings from time to time and use them to lift themselves higher when food arrives. All four chicks seem to be progressing well.
They certainly grow quick John. Soon be leaving the nest.
ReplyDeleteIt really is amazing how much they have changed in such a short time John. Their parents are obviously doing a very good job.
ReplyDeleteDon't they just, Keith.
ReplyDeleteIt is Jan. I can see patterned wing feathers now. I guess only having four to feed has helped.
ReplyDeleteHi John,
ReplyDeleteDon`t blink too much, otherwise you might miss that precious moment of fledging!

Wonderful to see that all is well! Are the two unhatched eggs still in the nest or have they been tossed out? Four new little birds nearly ready to meet the outside world!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I took a peek into my titbox the other day only to find it was full of bumblebees! - not entirely bad news!
ReplyDeleteHello Glo. Yes the two eggs are still in there. There is no way the adults could lift them up to the entrance hole.
ReplyDeleteThey are Matron. Proper miniature Great Tits now. Last year I had the Blue Tit box taken over by a wasp.
ReplyDeleteHello John. I read that they had fooled you this year. At least I can see what is going on inside which might give me a reasonable chance.
