Macro on Monday - Guess What

Congratulations to Jan, Glo and Wilma for gaining the virtual gold stars last Monday. Yes, it was a close view of one of the ball shaped flowers on my Buddleia Globosa bush. It should be attracting many butterflies but they are a scarcity this year so far.

Just on the right of the photo above is the end of my fruit cage which has a connection with this week's mystery photo.

Guess what:

No prizes for a correct identification - just for fun.

  2. Hi John, yes, I think a Raspberry too!

We went somewhere yesterday which should have been teeming with butterflies and there were several Buddleia Globosa bushes, I thought about you when I saw them :) but not one butterfly anywhere, not one. I think it is worrying, there should be plenty around now.

  3. Hello Jan. I think I have seen a total of four butterflies so far this year. I wonder if many didn't survive the harsh Winter conditions. There aren't as many bees about as I would expect by now either.

  4. John, your Budldleia is beautiful. I am sorry the butterflies are missing it. I figure you are right about your winter taking its toll on the butterflies as well as bees. We have a record amount of every sort of insect this year. Our butterflies are in flying in droves

Yea, the butterflies are very scarce so far this year.
