Well Wrapped Up

It did manage to get above 0C, just, so Penny had her padded coat on when we went down the lane just before lunch:

As usual this time of year my lane is like a bumpy skating rink. Any snow is compressed by traffic and any melt can't run away so freezes again as soon as the temperature drops. I have been getting my moneys worth of use from my shoe spikes. Without them I would soon be going base over apex but with them I can safely have a brisk walk though Penny does tend to slide about a bit.

Amongst others there are about a dozen squabbling Blackbirds spending most of the day in the garden. The speed bird food is disappearing I think they all have hollow legs. The bird bath if frozen solid and covered in snow. Fortunately the pond pump is still working so the waterfall is their chosen spot for drinking and bathing.

    1. Brilliant Sunshine all day here Keith. It shines straight in this room nearly all day which saves on fuel for heating.

    1. I see we have fog forecast for tomorrow Adrian - though they do tell porkies at times.

  3. Lovely pics John. Greyhounds are one of the few breeds that really do NEED extra warmth on a cold day.

    1. They do Matron. Penny doesn't seem to feel the cold as much as Bobby did - partly age difference maybe.

  4. Thats a nice aspect to those shots John. Unfortunately there is nothing much to stop that Easterly wind on this side of the country around this general area.

    1. Thank you Roy. A low view across open land sometimes helps. The line of trees is about a quarter of a mile away. Not much here between us and the sand dunes about four miles away.

  5. Penny looks so snug and perhaps a little smug too in that lovely coat ;-) Louis says to thank her very much for the recent info.

It hardly got above -4C here yesterday and it has been snowing for the last hour or so here this evening!
