This is by way of an experiment.
The photos have been made into a swf file which will take a short while to load.
Once loaded the photos should cycle through. If not then hover the mouse over the bottom centre of the box. This should show the controls and the PLAY arrow. Click this to start the slide show. Use the same button to stop the show. Once stopped, clicking on photos will bring them to the front:
Hope it works for you. Tested with the latest Firefox and Safari web browsers on Mac. Not sure how it will behave on mobile hardware. The show is interactive but is a bit buggy with this embedded flash player. Once started it should be possible to click on the photos to bring different ones to the front. I tried this on my iPad2. Didn't work in the Safari browser but worked fine using the Puffin browser.
In case it doesn't work for you, here is the moment two impatient youngsters landed on Papa's back and made him fall off the feeder.:
(As Simon pointed out in fact it was Mama who was used as a landing platform)
Why do people like Blogger keep changing things? There used to be the word Upload to click on to upload photos. This morning I was staring at the screen trying to see it. Nope, gone. Replaced by a cloudy triangle icon which says Upload when you hover over it. I prefer the old maxim: If it aint broke, don't fix it.
The slide show was created using the Mac app 3DGallery which is a free download at the time of writing. I have used the iOS version in the past and uploaded the swf files to Photobucket but now they don't accept them. It took a bit of searching to find another way. It can be done by storing the file on Dropbox and embedding the player with a link to the file.
It works fine in Chrome and is very effective. Better than a slideshow by a long way. I don't like using Dropbox unless the files are massive as they knock the upload off my allowance for no good reason except greed.
ReplyDeleteAdrian: Thanks for the report. It's a natty app / program. Also great to let the viewer have some control over how they see the photos. The only downer is each of its different styles of showing photos has a fixed number of spaces. Of course the file could be uploaded anywhere they allow storage. I have lots of space available on Dropbox as I rarely use it.
DeleteYes, it works fine with Chrome, even with my slow internet speed.
ReplyDeleteWilma: Thank for that.
DeleteThat's mama not papa no? Can't quite tell! Lovely shot though, there's a lot of sparrows nesting in their under eaves penthouses at my flat, but no sign of youngsters.
ReplyDeleteSDT: I think you are correct. It does look more like Mama. Some Sparrows here are just starting nest building. They seem to be taking it in turns.
Deletei was able to load it and view it with chrome, too, but didn't get a play arrow. but i could click on the boxes around the carousal to view each photo on its own.
ReplyDeleteTWG: I think you have to hover and wait a while sometimes before the controls show. They are very small and difficult to spot.
DeleteIt works on 'Chrome' and 'Opera' as well John.
ReplyDeleteThank for that Roy.
