It's always a welcome sight to see a new tree growing in the hedges which seem to be cut so low these days:
It is growing in a line of well established Poplar trees:
Though it has a long way to go before it can compete with them for height:
really cute. grow, baby, grow!
ReplyDeleteI hardly notice the hedges in Lincolnshire these days. come a hot dry spell and they will wish they had left them in. I can see the soil drifting like snow.
ReplyDeleteI just love Poplar trees John and they are so rarely seen up here. I hope it grows tall and strong. We often try growing trees for our plantation on the farm - sometimes pines from seed. So far we have reared a dozen or so to plant pot size - now we hope they survive their first winter.
ReplyDeleteThat part of Lincs doesn't seem over full of anything taller than about 4 feet high!
ReplyDeletePoplars are Lincolnshire windbreaks. When I was a lad in Spalding there were far more hedges than there are now.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the Lombardy Poplars John, a typical fenland sight around here.
