Seeing is Believing?

Not always when it comes to published photographs!
Popping my head outside the front door this morning I was greeted by a lovely Sunrise tinted sky:

DSCN0918c2

That is the view I would like to have seen. What the camera actually saw was:

Thank goodnes for Affinity Photo. With several strokes using the Inpainting brush the intrusive telephone pole and wires disappear.

Red Sky in the Morning

... sailor's warning.

Sunrise DSCN0677

Looked out this morning to see a beautiful red sky. The first for quite a few days. It looks as though the old saying will prove to be somewhat true today as the forecast for this area is heavy rain and a strong breeze for the rest of the day.

A Misty Sunrise

As the Sun was rising and the temperature dropped rapidly to 0.3C so the mist rose.

DSCN0667

That view didn't last for long. As the temperature started to rise again the mist soon cleared.

Red, White and Blue

A couple of photos from yesterday.

Sunrise. Looking to the West from the end of my lane with the Sun behind me,
Lovely blue sky with clouds illuminated red by the rising Sun.

The white?

Although cold it was a brilliant Sunny morning with blue skies so later on we went walkabout through the churchyard and spotted the Snowdrops were at last showing through.

Red Sky in the Morning

Yesterday morning we went walkabout at just the right time to see a beautiful Sunrise

IMG_0841c

I keep hoping to see a purple Sunrise or Sunset. They have been seen and photographed recently by others. The purple colouring is a result of high altitude aerosols from volcanic eruptions scattering blue light..

Sunrise, Moon and Venus

Yesterday morning dawned cold and frosty with a fairly clear sky.
Ideal to see Venus which was shining as bright as the Moon.
Both appearing close together in the morning sky.

Moon and Venus DSCN9245

Venus is the tiny white dot near the top, right of centre.
To the naked eye it looked really bright.

With the temperature at 0C and an icy lane it was time to use my shoes which have ice spikes fitted for the first time this back end.

Saturday's Sunrise

We were out and about at just the right moment yesterday morning.
Glorious Sunrise

Looking South from my front gate

Looking East back down the lane

Looking East across the school grounds
DSCN9009b

It was the usual battle of wills.
The four legged boss wanting to examine and analyse every enticing scent.
Me wanting to reach the ideal place for that final photo before the event was over.
You will only need one guess as to which of us won this time.

Took my mind off it being Flu jab day at the local surgery.
No problems with the actual injection but I know that area of me is usually sore for several days afterwards. The session started at 8.30 a.m.. There was already  a queue of about 30 people when the doors opened. It pays to be early as I was informed they ran out of vaccine a couple of weeks ago when they had a session at their other surgery on the coast. As these are walk in sessions it is difficult for the staff to accurately estimate how many of those eligible for a free flu vaccination will actually turn up on the day.

Saturday was another exceptionally warm day for the time of year.
My weather station recorded 24.8C by mid-afternoon.
Dry but very blustery. Maximum gust recorded was 52km/h

Sunrise

There are a few weeks in Autumn and Spring when our early morning walk-about coincides with the Sunrise and the past few days we have been greeted with some lovely coloured scenes.

This morning looking across the village school car park:

Beam Me Up Scotty

Mid morning a few days ago all that was visible to show there was a Sun somewhere were these weak Sunbeams:

Sunday's Sunrise looked more colourful, brightening up a cold Winter morn:

This morning we are getting a taste of things to come - light snow showers.

Sunrise

This morning's Sunrise behind the village school:

Sunrise 29 Jan 2018

Even better though was hearing a Song Thrush for the first time this year.
Yesterday and this morning were mild but temperatures will be down to normal by this evening.

Never Mind Snow at Christmas ....

A Sunrise and a Scare Car

Just a narrow band of colour for the Sunrise over Manby yesterday:

Sunrise_19Dec2017

Is this the 21st Century version of a Scarecrow - a Scarecar?
Seen in the middle of a field along with billowing fabric:

DSCN7998c

Can't say I've seen this idea before. Is the fabric on poles meant to give an impression of people I wonder?  Certainly there were no Wood Pigeons to be seen nearby for a change.

There are still the usual gas cannons going off round the village. This is the first year Penny has taken little notice of them. She normally reacts badly to sudden loud noises and usually tries to bolt but seems to have got used to them after four years..

Ups and Downs on an Early Morning Walk

Yesterday was practically a non day.  Overcast all day, raining all morning, soggy everywhere the rest of the day. Much better start to today. Nippy at 4C when we went walkabout but clearing skies showed a rising Sun to the East and a setting Moon to the West:

Sunrise Moonset

Sunrise

More unusual this morning as the colourful part of the Sunrise only showed through a small section of the sky where there was a break in the thicker, low cloud cover.

Sunrise over the village school field:
Sunrise 13Oct2017

It almost looked like the eruption of some distant volcano.
