As well as invading the bird table a local Grey Squirrel decided to help itself to some seeds from one of the bird feeders:
This Rook spent over four minutes trying to get at the peanuts in the feeder. Fortunately the various curves on the bracket fooled it. At one stage it looks as though it was attempting to remove the top from the feeder:
Have a great weekend observing the wildlife around you wherever you may be.
That Rook will work it out sooner or later John, they are very clever birds! As for the Squirrel, nothing is safe from their teeth! I have lost count of the number of feeders that have been destroyed by them!

Too true John. A neighbour ended up tying the feeders to their stand as they were being removed every day by the Rooks.
DeleteYou can understand why these rooks (and crows) live so long John. Fiendishly clever devils.{:)
ReplyDeleteToo clever by half Roy ;)
DeleteBy Jove, I do believe that must be Quigley's English cousin :) I think you're right about the Rook trying to take the lid off. It must have been quite frustrating to be so close to those peanuts and not being able to get at them! It sure made a valiant effort - a most determined bird!
ReplyDeleteNow I know why there are so many scars on the hanger and lid of the nut feeder!
DeleteI can see why people get annoyed with Squirrels in their gardens, the seed disappears at an alarming rate!
ReplyDeleteI could feel the Rook's frustration from here, it would so like to have got the lid off or got the feeder on the floor. Great captures John!
Nearly forgot, your home looked very nice and festive.
Not just the Squirrels Jan. Penny is determined to eat the seeds, straight from the bag when she can get at it!
DeleteI was disappointed how few places had any decorations or flags around the village.
