I have become used to Tree Sparrows joining the House Sparrows during the Winter and I had noticed the odd one about for a few weeks recently. It came as quite a surprise when one turned up with a youngster:

ReplyDeleteI read that their population in the UK has declined by a horrifying 93% in the last 40 years or so!!
Jan: With the tearing up of field hedges and felling of so many trees it's not surprising that they are scarcer now. Nice to see the local one adapting to visit gardens locally.
