Not Many Sunspots

As the Sun is making its presence felt at the moment I thought it was time to take a few photos. Yesterday's high here was 26C.

A gentle reminder that you should never point a camera, telescope or binoculars directly towards the Sun without using a filter made for that purpose. The Safety Film Solar Filter I use cuts down the light from the Sun by about 10,000 times. Also it should go without saying that you should never look at the Sun with the naked eyes.

  1. It is sunny here this morning and it's Aldi day. I expect it will rain later so will have another look at your sun then.

    1. Adrian: Quite cloudy here most of the day though it did reach 26C again by teatime.

  2. Not quite as interesting to look at as the moon, eh? But good to see, all the same. We are bright and sunny today too. Yea! The batteries are getting charged!

    1. Wilma: True, the cheap filter I use doesn't show much in the way of detail. Good to hear your batteries are charging OK.

  3. ...wow, John. I've never known anyone who has photographed the sun. I didn't know you could get filters---very cool!

    1. Kelly: I think some people buy the filter material and make their own. I was lucky to find one which was easily modified to fit the Canon 70-300mm lens. Most solar filters seem to be designed for telescopes.
