That is the first of my Living Stones (Lithops) to flower ....
... and this is a Speckled Wood butterfly which spent a while landing on various plants around the garden. It didn't land on any flowers so maybe it was seeking places to lay eggs...
Correction for typo! Wilma: Late Winter through Spring the two fleshy halves will wither away but a plant grows from the centre. The hard bit is remembering they must not be watered during this stage in their growth
Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
Congrats on the Lithops flower! Does the plant it is on die back or continue to grow and flower again?

living stones? never heard of them, but so cool!
ReplyDeleteTWG: Sometimes known as living pebbles as they look like pebbles or small stones and blend in to their natural surroundings.
DeleteThis is a grand plant. I like the novelty value and the flower is a bonus.
