Friday at the Flicks - Under Water(drop) Attack

When I had the microscope set up to see what was in a few drops of pond water I was videoing a ciliate (possibly Coleps) when it found a source of food. For an idea of size both are less than one millimetre:

Wednesday was one of those days when all the rain arrives in one short burst.
For a short time the rate of rainfall exceeded 30mm per hour:

 rainfall 020915

Have a great weekend observing nature (large or small, wet or dry) around you.

  1. Brilliant and a bit different this week.

    1. Adrian: Thanks. As you know it is hard sometimes to come up with something different. It' usually a question of being in the right place / looking at the right place at the right time and remembering to press the correct keys to get recordings started.

  2. Replies
    1. TWG: If you're less than 1mm tall you can still get mugged.

  3. Thursday it pittered rain all day here John but never enough to wet the pavement and as there was a sharp breeze it really dried up as it fell.

    1. Weaver: Today started about 11C with a cold wind and didn't get much better all day.

Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any comment, or correction to any information or identification I get wrong, is most welcome. John
