End of Summer

I always find it a bit crazy that there are two different ways of timing the beginnings and ends of the seasons. Meteorologically speaking Autumn started on the 1st September but astronomically speaking the change varies slightly from year to year as it takes the Earth 365 days 5 hours and 49 minutes to travel round the Sun.  The astronomical change is on 22 / 23 September.

Whichever you choose to follow this three photo stitched panorama was taken  a week or so ago of a Summer blue sky and clouds over a corn field:

  1. Marvellous photograph John - such clear vistas can only be Lincolnshire - and how I miss it sometimes.

    1. Weaver: Of course only on the coastal plain or far south of the county. I sometimes yearn for the undulating scenery of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

  2. The End of Summer is not in sight here in Mostar. We have a new heatwave in the land which keeps us pretty much housebound.

    1. Mersad: Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. Apparently August was below average for temperatures here in the UK and above average for rainfall. Definitely cooler now, especially early mornings.

    1. Too true Simon, apart from a few really hot days Summer seems to have past us by this year.

    1. Thank you Adrian. That's one of my favourite gaps in that hedge.

  5. Lovely clouds in that shot John. I think we are already in Autumn judging by the feel of the weather most days.

    1. Roy. All that's missing are the mists and mellow fruitfulness.

  6. Love the perspective and how the clouds drift back to infinity.
