Time to dust off the microscope and see what I can see.
This creature reminds me of a fresh water shrimp but I don't think it is:
So far it doesn't match anything in the references I have.
The nearest I've got - it looks to be an amphipod. It may have been damaged when I sucked up some water from the pond in a small syringe. The large end of the creature should be the head end.
The unseen aliens forever in our midst
ReplyDeleteSimon. Very much unseen as I couldn't spot it with a magnifying glass.
DeleteI don't know what it is, but it's cool!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I find micro creatures fascinating.
DeleteAs long as it never ends up on my plate its fine by me.
ReplyDeleteWeaver, at half a mm I don't think it would do us much harm but better where it belongs - in the pond.
Deletepretty cool!
ReplyDeleteTWG: There's a whole new micro world we rarely see.
DeleteI missed this but fascinating as it is I can't identify it.
