Earlier today I spotted the first damselfly to emerge from the garden pond. I assume it will be a blue tail once it gets its colour as they have been breeding there for several years. This one appeared to be fairly new and kept shuffling round the plant stem, usually just as I had it in focus.
This morning the final two baby Great Tits left the nestbox so that makes a total of five from the seven eggs which were laid. I haven't seen any babies or the adults today but I didn't last year for a few days after the last one fledged.
Oh, I do just love it when they hatch John! Last year I watched some of my Dragonflies, had seven of them!
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the best rewards in life, Maree, when wildlife comes visiting.
DeleteA lovely capture John, I'm sure you'll have lots more damsels and dragons in the garden soon.
ReplyDeleteI was so taken up with Penny on the previous post that I forgot to say I enjoyed the nest box video. A shame one didn't survive but still a good result. I also forgot to say I loved the photo of Penny in her bed, a very contented looking girl I thought.
Thank you Jan. I think the good weather has brought them out earlier this year. I keep looking for a Broad Bodied Chaser as it's a few years since one visited the garden.
