A Sad End to the Weekend

I have just come back from the vets where I said goodbye to Bobby. He had become very ill towards the end of last week and with all his ailments looked as though he had given up the struggle to live. On the recommendation of the vet he was peacefully let go while I stroked his head.

This is the photo I have had as a background on my computer for years and is the way I will remember him - curious but gentle.

RIP old feller:

Bobby Meets the Hedgehog

We had a good six years together and his age of 14 was a good one for a Lurcher.

  4. I am very sorry to hear that John. A dog is one of the family and the loss of one feels like that. Some years ago now we had a black Cocker Spaniel and he had a severe heart condition which meant we had to make that decision. Its a dreadful time to go through, but it has to be done for the good of your dog, as one does not want to think of them suffering.

  7. Hello John, your walks and encounters with Bobby have been a large part of your blog. I can understand completely that blogging will be very hard to do just now. The photo here and on your desktop is the one I would remember of him too.

You and Bobby have enjoyed six years together, I’m pretty sure he’s had a good dog’s life living with you. It’s always so sad when you can’t save a sick animal. Thinking of you.
